Ten young
ladies of the 12 committing to Enterprise State Community College in
this signing period, signed softball scholarships with parents, family
members, coaches and friends, as well as ESCC administrators,
coaches and members of the 2013 Weevil Women on hand Thursday morning.
"We want to
welcome all these players and their parents to the ESCC family," said
veteran ESCC coach King Jones. "We are excited to have these 12 girls in
our program for the next two years."
Signing Thursday were:
Bianca Tate Adkison - Catcher, utility; St. Clair High School in Odenville where she has been All-Area four consecutive years.
Captain of her team and was the RBI leader for the past two seasons.
Plays with Elite Lady Sox Travel Team in Dothan in summer and fall.
"Like many
high school teams where a coaching staff change occurred, players' stats
were lost in the shuffle, but Bianca is an exceptional player and we
are very happy to have her come to play at ESCC,"
Jones said.
Jessica Kaitlyn Chapa - Catcher, first base, outfield; Saks High School in Anniston; batted .378 in 2012.

"Another well round student, we look forward to Jessica joining the ESCC softball team in the fall," Jones said.
Ashley Nicole Copeland - Pitcher, catcher, first base; Pleasant Home High School, near Andalusia; varsity softball player since eighth grade.
"As the
team's catcher, she helped Pleasant Home finish second in the state last
season and was selected to the All-Tournament team at the State
Tournament," Jones noted.
In 2012, she had a .409 batting average and 21 RBI's, and a 1.40 ERA as a pitcher.
"Such a
versatile player is going to be a great addition to the ESCC softball
team," Jones explained. "And we are really glad Ashley decided to join
our team."
Brooke Marie Hammonds - First base, third base, outfield;
Elba High School, played at Florala before tearing an ACL and was not able to play ball last year at Elba.
She is a strong athlete and the following demonstrates this:
In volleyball, elected to the 2010 Elite Eight; won the 2011-12 MVP Award.
In basketball, she was 2008-09 MVP, 2009-10 All-Tournament team, and 2011-12 Top Rebounder
She has been EHS Ambassador two years; Children's Ministry five years, and Student Council member two years.
"A diverse student/athlete, Brooke is going to be a valued member of the ESCC softball team," Jones said.

all outfield positions, and has done well in softball and volleyball,"
Jones said.
