John Alexander Beverett

Mr. John Alexander Beverett, age 94, of Midland City passed away Monday February 25, 2013 at his residence with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be 11 am Wednesday February 27, 2013 at Mt. Enon Baptist Church with Rev. Guy Causey and Rev. Danny Quincey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at Sunset Funeral Home from 5 to 7 pm Tuesday evening.

Mr. Beverett was born February 27, 1918 in Dale County and resided in the Mt. Enon Community all of his life. He was a farmer and was also employed with Wex-Tex Manufacturing for several years until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of Mt. Enon Baptist Church where he formerly served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Ina Mae Preston Beverett.

Survivors include his three sons, Marcus (Nina) Beverett of Abbeville, AL, Joey (Mary) Beverett of Midland City, AL, and Jesse (Peggy) Beverett of Midland City, AL; two daughters, Martha Toole of Quincy, FL, and Lindy (Brent) Bailey of Enterprise, AL; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a sister Mary Ella Forehand of Havana, FL; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Gentiva Hospice and the community where he lived all his life, and especially Joey and Mary Beverett who were his caretakers for the last 3 years.
