Trojans Prepare For Tough Road Weekend, Starting With Louisiana-Lafayette

The Trojans were defeated at home last Saturday night by North Texas, 63-61. It was a back-and-forth game, with 16 lead changes and 12 ties. Hunter Williams went over 20 points for the second consecutive game, scoring a team-high 21 points and dishing out four assists. Deonata Jethroe became the first Trojan to record a double-double in Trojan Arena, finishing with 10 points and 10 boards.
The Trojans are led by Emil Jones and his 11.6 points per game. Williams is the only other Trojan averaging double-figures, at 10.5 points per game. Senior forward Ray Chambers is making the most of his opportunities with the ball, shooting 61 percent from the field in Sun Belt games this year, second best in the league.
Louisiana-Lafayette enters the game after taking down Florida Atlantic at home last weekend, 58-57. The Ragin' Cajuns are led by Shawn Long's 15.6 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. Elfrid Payton is right behind him at 15.2 points per game, while Bryant Mbamalu is scoring 14.1 points per game. The Ragin' Cajuns have the second highest scoring offense in the league, but they also give up the most points per game.
Troy is 5-7 all-time against Louisiana-Lafayette, including the big win earlier this season. The Trojans got a complete team effort in that win, with nine players scoring at least four points. No starters scored in double figures, while Tevin Calhoun scored 15 points off the bench.
