AHSAA SOUTH REGIONAL DAY 1

Here is the latest from day one action of the AHSAA South Regional Tournament being held at the Dothan Civic Center.

B.C. Rain 65, Carroll-Ozark 63: Denisha McKenzie scored a bucket with three seconds left to give B.C. Raine a two-point win over Carroll of Ozark.

After trailing by three points at the end of the first quarter, B.C. Raine took control in the second and third quarters...but had to hold on in the final quarter to get one step closer to the state tournament in Birmingham.

Jaquis Cooks led Raine with 17 points while Kierra Jackson had 14 points and Kaylyn Willie added 13.

The Lady Eagles were led by Brittany Moore with 24 points. Kadaleus Gissendanner had 15 points and Loretta Gissendanner added 11.

Eufaula, 63, B.C. Rain 59: The Eufaula Tigers moved one game closer to a trip to Birmingham to play in the 5A state championship tournament next week after knocking off B.C. Raine 63-59.

Eufaula took the lead early and never looked back. Terion Gates led the Tigers with 18 points. Jaylin Robinson had 17 and Vincent Butler had 10. Demarkus Bouier chipped in 8 points in the win.

B.C. Raine was led by Terrance Nelson with 17 points, Tyler French with 14 and Terrell Glover with 11.

Faith Academy 76, Russell County 43 (Girls): 
Faith Academy dominated from the start in their 76-43 route of Russell County in the 5A girl's semifinal matchup.

Jasmine Rhodes led Faith Academy with 32 points. Sydney Westry added nine.

Areal Carter had 14 for Russell County.

Faith Academy 69, Russell County 48 (Boys):
Faith Academy took care of the Russell County boys as well this afternoon.

Dylan Brown had 20 points to lead Faith Academy while Braszaun Barnes and James Davis each had 11 points. Shawn Benard and Josh Hill had 10 each.

Artavious Porter had 19 to lead Russell County.

Elba 43, Ariton 37: It took a second half comeback for Elba to reach the south regional final on Tuesday as the Tigers took out the Ariton Purplecats 43-37.

A'Jaspin Whitfield led the way for the Lady Tigers with 15 points. Alondria Sams chipped in 13 and Reality Singletary added nine.

Emily Snyder and Nicole McInernery both had 13 points for the Lady Purplecats.

Elba 67, Wicksburg 59: The Elba Tigers avenged an earlier season loss on the road at Wicksburg with a win in the game that mattered the most.

Leading the way for the Tigers was Cobe Goosby with 28 points. Nick Green added 14 points, Martavious Gray put in 11 and Raheem Newsom had 10.

Wickburg was led by Trey McNeal with 13, Spencer Rivenbark with 12 and Austin Sellers and Truman Whitaker with 10 each.

Providence Christian 70, Flomaton 36: It was no contest as Providence Christian cruised the 2A south region girl's final with a 70-36 win over Flomaton.

Elizabeth Dowd led the way for PC with 24 points. Brooke Segler added to the effort with 18 followed by Mary Palm with 14 and Lauren Hutto with eight.

Flomaton was led by Hannah Fillmore with 18 and Dezeray Wesley with 11.

Washington County 57, Houston Academy 52: The Houston Academy Raiders came up short in their big to make the 2A south regional final falling to Washington County by five.

Alex Thompson led the way for HA with 25 points on the night. Andrew Burrell has 13 points in the losing effort.

Jayln Cooper had 13 points to lead Washington County while Braxton Kinsey added 12 and DeMarcus Holcombe knocked down 10.
