Ella Ruth Gatlin, 84, a lifelong resident of Bellwood, AL, died February 15, 2013, after a lengthy illness.
Graveside services will be held 2 pm, Monday, February 18, 2013 at Bellwood Cemetery with Bro. Willie Wilkerson officiating and Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends at her residence in Bellwood, AL.
Mrs. Gatlin was born February 20, 1928 and has lived all of her life in the surrounding area. She was the daughter of the late Alto and Elizabeth Dowling Broxson. She married Alma Graves Gatlin in November 1947. They were married 34 years until his death in 1981. She retired in 1989 from Ft. Rucker, after 41 year working as a civil service employee.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Alma, daughter, Kathy Gatlin, her parents, eight brothers and a sister.
Survivors include her daughter, Elaine Dixon (Leon), Enterprise, AL; sister, Marilyn Patrick, Enterprise, AL; 8 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
