Flooding after a slow moving storm dumps more than eight inches of rain into the Wiregrass Monday. The rain caused lots of headaches for commuters and even some homeowners. Many people said when they walked outside their yards looked more like a lake. As the day continued so did the rain, dropping several inches within an hour's time span. Several homes and businesses in the area received quite a bit of flood damage.

With more than twenty road closures, many people were forced to take alternate routes and some people decided to stay off the roads all together. Authorities said this made their jobs a little easier. Dothan Fire Marshall, Chris Etheredge said, this storm was one of the most widespread they've seen, but there has been a lot of cooperation. "Our citizens have done a great job dealing with this, therefore we've actually not seen a lot of wrecks," continued Etheredge.

The rain is expected to continue throughout Monday night and on into Tuesday. The EMA advises if you have any flood related problems to call 615-HELP (4357).
