James Ray Thomley

Mr. James Ray Thomley, of Pansey, AL departed from this life Wednesday, February 6, 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, February 8, 2013, at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Minister David Thomley of Brentwood, TN; and Minister Stuart Tullis of Dothan officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2 P.M. Friday, February 8, 2013, one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ashford Rescue Unit, or your favorite charity.
Mr. Thomley was born October 25, 1923. He served our nation with honor, serving in the Navy during the Second World War. After his military service, in 1946 he met and married Ms. Myrtle Lou Reeves of Geneva Co., AL. They enjoyed 44 wonderful years together until Myrtle's death in 1990. During this time Mr. Thomley spent 38 years in the auto body repair profession, retiring in 1988. Mr. Thomley was dedicated in his service to God. He was an elder with the Appletree St. Church of Christ, and a deacon with the Honeysuckle Rd. Church of Christ, and was most recently a member of the Taylor Church of Christ.
He was also preceded in death by parents, Leon and Vera Belle Thomley, brothers, Raymond, Ralph, Taft, and Ronnie Thomley.
Survivors include his loving wife, Barbara Thomley, Pansey, one son, Wallace (Margaret) Thomley, Wicksburg, daughters, Brenda (Don) Herndon Lutz, FL., Wanda McSween, Wicksburg, and Cathy (Bill) Brown, Dothan, sisters, Ruby Jones, Wicksburg, Maureen (Charlie) Barnes, Enterprise, one step-son, David Dasinger, Lakeland, FL., step-daughter Kathy (David) McGee, Aiken, SC., ten grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
