Adams said that no complaints had been filed with his office or the Dale County Sheriff's office despite comments from neighbors stating they had numerous confrontations with Dykes - with one neighboring going as far as saying that Dykes beat her dog to death with a pipe.
"He was never on our radar," said Adams in an interview today with WDHN. "We never heard complaints on Mr. Dykes until December when he was charged with menacing...they just didn't call us."
Adams says that he hopes in the future citizens of Dale County will contact him or the Sheriff's office if they believe there is an issue law enforcement needs to look into.
"My office is open any time...we need to know if there is a problem."
Information over the last several days has shown that Dykes has had previous charges brought against him in Florida. None of the charges indicated that Dykes would murder a school bus driver and take a student on the bus hostage.
