Daniel Webster (Dan) Davis, a resident of Dothan, died early Sunday morning, January 27, 2013, in the Shoal Creek Rehabilitation Center in Crestview, Florida. He was 83.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 30, 2013, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Jerry Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery in Dothan. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the mortuary in Headland.
Mr. Davis was born and reared in Houston County, near Dothan, son of the late Webster Forbus Davis and Dovie Lewis Davis. He lived in Dothan most of his adult lifetime where he owned and operated Dan Davis Floors for many years. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Shirley Davis, a son, Steve Davis, a granddaughter, Megan Davis Hataway, and two sisters, Eudean Hardy and Lena Morris.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Deborah Davis Johnson and husband, Bobby, Cottonwood; three sons, Danny E. Davis and wife, Shannon; Kenny Davis and wife, Jessica; Derek Davis and wife, Shannon, all of Dothan; a daughter-in-law, Wanda Davis, Taylor, AL; six sisters, Earline Teston, Esther Lynn and Katreen Thomas, all of Dothan; June Brown, Ozark; Judy Snyder, Dothan; and Ann Walker, Stokesdale, N.C.; four brothers, Rev. Jack Davis, Hattiesburg, MS; Joe Davis, Slocomb; Wendell Davis, Dothan; and Winston Davis, Dothan; fourteen grandchildren, Steve Davis (Krystal), Greg Davis, Olivia Davis Coale (Ben), Bradley Davis, Emily Cassady, Lizzie Cassady, Brent Robertson (Krysia), Blake Robertson (Jennifer), Brooke Robertson Phillips (Matt), Bryant Davis, Brady Davis, Cara Williams, (Scotty), Alex Normand, and Tyler Normand (Kaylee); fourteen great-grandchildren; a great-grandson and a great-granddaughter on the way.
Serving as active pallbearers will be the grandsons. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the granddaughters.
