Henry Rudolph McNeal

Mr. Henry Rudolph McNeal of Hartford passed away
peacefully in his sleep at his Hartford home on Thursday morning, January 24,
2013. Rudolph finally succumbed to ALS
after more than 30 years bravely fighting this dreadful
disease.
Funeral
services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, in Pondtown United
Methodist Church with Rev. Donna Cumbie and Rev. Oneal Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery
with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. Mr. McNeal will be placed in the church one
hour prior to service time. The family
will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6:00 until 8:00
p.m.

Mr. Rudolph
was born in Geneva County, AL on May 16, 1926 to the late Sumpter and Seless
Hollis McNeal. He was a graduate of the
University of Alabama and worked for many years for General Motors in Mobile,
AL. He served with the U.S. Navy on the
island of Guam during World War II. He
was a long time member of Pondtown United Methodist
Church.
Survivors
include one brother: James McNeal of
Hartford; two sisters: Lenora Williams
of Greenville, TN and Ouida Lou Phillips of Slocomb; nieces and nephews: Phyllis Phillips Voth of Enterprise, Terry
Phillips of Slocomb, Julie Williams Shelton and Daniel Williams of Greenville,
TN.
The family
would like to express their appreciation to Mr. Rudolph's longtime caregivers,
Susan Rowell, and her mother, Shirley Rowell, of Samson. Melanie Dean of AlaCare Hospice is to be
commended for the expert care she gave Mr. Rudolph and the love extended to him
and his family during his illness.
