Dr. Walter Bruce Long, 85 of Dothan passed away Sunday January 20, 2013 at a local hospital.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Episcopal Church of the Nativity with Mother Ede Plovanich officiating with Robert Byrd directing.
Dr. Long was born March 9, 1927 in Indiana and lived his early years in Indianapolis. He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a graduate of the Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Long resided in Jackson, Michigan prior to moving to Dothan in 1983. Dr. Long was part of the Dothan medical community for over 30 years and was affiliated with Southeast Alabama Medical Center where he work in the Emergency Room and later with Occupational Medicine. He was a member of the American Legion, Episcopal Church of the Nativity, Dothan Country Club, and the Dothan Elks Lodge.
Survivors include his wife Joyce Long of Dothan; three sons, Michael Long, Christopher Long and Brian Long; two stepdaughters, Cheryl Ebinger and Leslie Ebinger; and several grandchildren.
