Mattie Sue "Suzy" Deloney Coe

Mattie Sue "Suzy" Deloney Coe died on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Extendicare in Dothan. She was 97.

A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Dothan on Monday, January 21 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bob Gross officiating. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary at the church for an hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Coe was born in Dothan, Alabama on November 22, 1915. She was a graduate of Dothan High and attended Montevallo Girls College. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Dothan since 1927 and, there, was a member of the Women's Missionary Society. She served five years in the Dothan Service League. Mrs. Coe was an excellent seamstress and for many years made all of her own, very fashionable clothes. In addition to sewing, she enjoyed reading, playing bridge, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family at their cottage on Lake Seminole. For many years, she was an avid, early-morning walker.

Mrs. Coe was preceded in death by her parents, John and Jessie Deloney; her beloved husband of 58 years, Lawrence P. Coe; two brothers, Edward Deloney and Jack Deloney; and a sister, Virginia Deloney McClenny.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Coe and his wife Judy A., Rod Coe and his wife Judy G; four grandchildren, Jonathan Coe (Tanya) of Birmingham, AL, Natalie Coe Burleson (Heath) of Dothan, AL, Chandler Coe (Camberly) of Marietta, GA, David Coe (Joanna) of Fremont, NE; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Johnny Deloney of Aiken, SC.
