Betty Glenn Reeves Palmer

Mrs. Betty Glenn Reeves Palmer of Jellico Community passed away Friday, January 18, 2013 at her home.  She was 86.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 21, in Sorrells Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy White and Rev. Wendell Holmes officiating.  Burial will follow in Pilgrims' Rest (West) Baptist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.  

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. 

Mrs. Palmer was born on May 20, 1926 in Houston County, AL to the late William Glenn and Nellie Jane Patterson Reeves.  She was a member of Pilgrims' Rest Baptist Church.  She taught school until her retirement; she influenced the lives of many students at Columbia, Midland City, Slocomb and Wallace College. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse J. Palmer.

Survivors include her son:  Jesse G. (Bonnie) Palmer of Birmingham; two daughters:  Patti P. (Ken) Spruell of Dothan; Betsy P.  (Al) Collins of Fairhope, AL; eight grandchildren:  Glenn and Sean Sanders, Peyton S. Pennington, Jessica C. Porterfield, Casey and Sarah Collins, Derek and Jason Spruell; six great grandchildren:  Rabon and Ralls Pennington, Laurance and Lance Spruell, Nathan and London Spruell; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Al Collins, Ken Spruell, Glenn and Sean Sanders, Mike Pennington and Clyde Ray Hollis.
