Updated: January 21, 2013
On January 21, 2013 at approximately 1:20 a.m., deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff's Department along with members of the Marianna Police Department responded to a residence located on Washington Ave in the City of Marianna.

The deputies and officers responded to the residence as a result of information from a citizen tip to the Sheriff's Department about a male subject with felony warrants staying at the residence.

Upon making contact with the tenants of the residence, the deputies and officers were given consent to search the residence by the mother of the male subject. This search did lead to the discovery of the male subject hiding in a closet in the back bedroom of the residence under a pile of clothing.

When the officers present took the male subject into custody at approximately 0136 hours, there were approximately 10 small plastic baggies of marijuana, packaged for individual sale along with an unpackaged block of marijuana in the closet where the subject was hiding.

Upon further investigation officers discovered other items consistent with the packaging and sale of marijuana to include both digital and manual scales, grinder, several cell phones and numerous empty plastic baggies.

The male subject, Fitzgerald Williams was taken into custody on felony warrants for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, felony criminal mischief and violation of state probation.

Williams was also charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting without violence. Williams was transported to the county jail without further incident.
