One Dead After Overnight Motorcycle Crash Near Cottonwood

One person is dead after a motorcycle accident just after midnight near Cottonwood.

Emergency crews say it happened on Cottonwood Road just south of Union Hill Road. The driver of the motorcycle ran off the road and hit a pole.

When emergency crews responded, the driver was unresponsive and died a short time later. Police have not yet released the name of the victim in the crash.

UPDATE

Alabama State Troopers say the victim in last night's crash has been identified as Thomas Frank Rash, Jr., 38, of Gordon. Troopers say speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
