Mrs. Evelyn Cotton Mowrey of Cottonwood, AL passed away on Friday, January 11, 2013. She was 77. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 13, 2013 in the Chapel of Pittman Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Wilmore officiating. Burial will follow in the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home prior to the service beginning at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
Mrs. Mowrey was born in the Piney Grove Community on March 26, 1935 to the late D.L. and Emma Lee Davis Cotton. Mrs. Evelyn was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Inez Holmes; three brothers, Eulan, Roland, and Carl Cotton.
She is survived by her five sons, Gary Mowrey (Judy) of Cottonwood, AL, James Mowrey (Kim Do) of Dothan, AL, Timothy Mowrey (Christina) of Pinckard, AL, Marvin Mowrey (Carol) and Tony Mowrey all of Cowarts, AL; seven grandchildren, Judi Paul (Jeremy), Renee, Bradley, David, Matthew, Brandie Mowrey, and Chuck Jowers; two great grandchildren, Hannah Lee and Mckenzie Oplyn Paul; one sister, Dorothy Manning of Dothan, AL; and several nieces and nephews.
