Dothan Police Announce Arrests In Attempted ATM Theft

ATM Theft Attempt, Timeline:
January 12, 2013 3:00 p.m. Four suspects leave Atlanta traveling to Dothan in a van rented from the Atlanta airport.
Between arrival in Dothan and 4:00 a.m. January 13, 2013;
Suspects steal a white pick up from Colony Square Apartments and take it to a barn on Headland Avenue where the truck bed is stripped of the toolbox and tools creating more space in the bed.
Suspects steal a forklift from the 4700 block of Ross Clark Circle.
January 13, 2013 4:23 a.m. alarm activation at 4203 Ross Clark Circle prompts police response which leads to traffic stop, flight of two felons and police foot pursuit of suspects which continues through early morning hours.

On January 13, 2013 at 4:23 a.m. an alarm activation was received at Regions Bank Security Center with a notification of an ATM offline at Regions Bank located at 4203 Ross Clark Circle. The alarm was passed on to Dothan Police by members of the security firm who were simultaneously pulling live video from the location. Upon a review of the live feed, the security company gave updated information to dispatch that a forklift and white pick up truck were on the premises and the ATM machine was lying on its' side. Police arrived quickly on scene and located the forklift and ATM machine, however the truck was gone. Police immediately saturated the area and began searching for the vehicle. An alert patrolman in the area noticed a white van traveling very slowly in the 3200 block of Headland Avenue and decided to further investigate the suspicious nature in which the vehicle was being driven. Upon his approach, he saw what appeared to be at least two people running from the vehicle and made a felony traffic stop on the van, detaining the remaining two occupants, Devin Terry and Shayla Thompson.
Additional officers responded to the scene including two Dothan Police canine teams in an attempt to locate two additional suspects. Mutual aid was requested from Dale County Sheriff's Department for air support in the search as well. The first canine team on scene began a track that would continue for a long distance until a third suspect, Nathan Thomas was apprehended. While tracking the suspect, the canine traveled through a nearby cemetery where a tool bag and tools where recovered as well as through an area that contained a barn. During an extensive foot search of the area police recovered the white truck along with items removed from the truck bed concealed in the barn. The truck tag revealed the registered owner was a Dothan man who was contacted by police and was shocked to learn his vehicle had been stolen in the night from the parking lot of Colony Square Apartments.
The second canine on scene began a track of the fourth suspect, now identified as Demontra Santrez Flood, of Atlanta Georgia. The canine successfully located the path by which the suspect fled and officers recovered his clothing on the track however he was not located and remains on the run. Police say warrants for arrest have been signed and the suspect should be considered a wanted, dangerous felon.
Police also seized the fork lift, left at the crime scene, which has now been determined to have been stolen from the 3700 block of Ross Clark Circle where it was sitting beside the roadway for sale.
Investigators say the investigation will continue are asking anyone with information about the case or location of Demontra Flood to call the Dothan Police Department or CrimeStoppers 334-793-7000.

Devin Terry, black male, 32 years of age, of Atlanta, Georgia was arrested and charged with Two Counts of First Degree Theft and one count of Attempted First Degree Theft with bonds being established later today. All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Shayla Thompson, black female, 33 years of age, of Atlanta, Georgia was arrested and charged with Two Counts of First Degree Theft, one count of Attempted First Degree Theft and Obstruction of Justice/Giving False Name to Law Enforcement with bonds being established later today. All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Nathan Thomas, black male, 45 years of age, of Atlanta, Georgia was arrested and charged with Two Counts of First Degree Theft and one count of Attempted First Degree Theft with bonds being established later today. All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
