According to Henry County investigators, the body found Thursday is believed to be a male.

This discovery ruled out a Eufaula woman who a private investigator was searching for when the body was found behind New Hope Missionary Church on County Road 37 and State Highway 95.

Sheriff Will Maddox said investigators are waiting on DNA results from the state forensic lab in Montgomery.

Maddox said the investigation will also involve looking at missing person cases in the county.

"There's one missing person naturally we're thinking about, but we won't start an investigation until after we've notified the next of kin. We're hoping this brings closure to the family and prosecute the ones that are responsible," said Maddox.
