Two children were killed and three adults critically injured in a fire that destroyed a Dothan home Monday night.  The fire occurred at the home on Ginnalou Drive near Westgate Park and Camelot Apartments.  Two of the adults injured were airlifted to a Birmingham hospital.

Witnesses told WDHN's Kevin Presley they heard explosion type sounds followed by screams for help.  The first police officer to arrive on the scene reported there were injuries and children feared trapped inside the home.

Police were dispatched to the call at 11:05 pm; moments after Alabama had won the BCS National Championship.   The cause of the fire is under investigation though there are some early theories that investigators would not immediately discuss publicly.

The fire gutted the home and destroyed two vehicles parked outside.
