John Earl Johns

John Earl Johns, 84, passed away peacefully January 5, 2013 from complications of injuries received in a fall in September at his home.
Graveside services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday, January 7, 2013, at Selma Baptist Church Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 6 P.M. Sunday, January 6, 2013.
Originally from Dothan, he has been a resident at the Gardens of Roswell in Alpharetta, Georgia since November 2012.
Mr. Johns attended Dothan High School and after serving 2 years with the United States Army during the Korean War, graduated from George C. Wallace State Technical School as Tractor and Diesel Mechanic. He worked for the City of Dothan and the National Guard before becoming an independent Truck Driver. After retirement one of Mr. Johns favorite hobbies was fishing and he was an avid reader all of his life. He also loved country music. Mr. Johns was a member of Northside Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Early Johns and Willie Mendheim Johns and a sister, Mary Singleton.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Frances Eddins Johns, daughter Lisa Gray (Joel) of Roswell, GA; son, Kim, 2 grandsons, Matthew, Cade (Summer), and great-grandson, Grayson Johns, all of Panama City, FL.
The family is most appreciative of the excellent care provided by Home Instead Senior Helpers, especially Evelyn, Bobbiette, and Diane for over 2 years in Dothan. They also would like to thank Westside Terrace Rehab in Dothan for excellent care along with the caregivers at the Gardens of Roswell.
