James Ralph Tindell

Mr. James Ralph Tindell, a lifelong resident of Malvern, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He was 89.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Malvern Baptist Church with Rev. Hosea Parker and Rev. Wallace Russell officiating and with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.
Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Malvern Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 until 11:30 a.m.
Mr. Tindell was born on November 5, 1923 in Geneva County to the late James Weldon and Amy Ruth Farmer Tindell. He was a member of Malvern Baptist Church. He retired from Headstrom Union after 53 years of service and was a proud US Navy veteran of World War II.
In addition to his parents, three sisters preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Angeline Merritt Tindell of Malvern; three daughters: Cosette Chandler (Cody) of Malvern, Mary Ann Tindell and Evelyn Cobb (Gene) both of Dothan; two sons: Lamar Tindell (Judy) of Malvern and Junior Tindell (Rhonda) of Hartford; one sister, Dora Faye Avant of Dothan; two brothers: Ray Tindell (Betty) and Paul Tindell (Norma) both of Malvern; seven grandchildren: Suzanne Griffin (Frankie), Sabrina Dwyer (Jim), Crissy Dotson (Eddie), Josh Tindell (Nancy), Tabitha Cobb, Wes Tindell (Carrie), and Lana Tindell; 11 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.
Serving as pall bearers will be Josh Tindell, Wes Tindell, Frankie Griffin, Eddie Dotson, Stephen Culbreth and Jerald Vinson.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Southeast Alabama Medical Center Four East for the love and care shown to Mr. Tindell and the family during his illness.
