Virginia Powell Kelley

Virginia Powell Kelley of Enterprise, AL, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012, at her daughter's home in Enterprise.   She was 93.

             Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, AL, with Rev. Rob West officiating and Searcy Funeral Home directing.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00PM Tuesday at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory.  Memorials may be made to:  First United Methodist Church Mercy Fund, 217 S. Main Street, Enterprise, AL 36330.

             Mrs. Kelley always met challenge in her life with a "can do" attitude.  She learned to swim at the age of 33, drive at 46, and she graduated from the University of Alabama at 58. She was preceded in death by her husband, Denson Kelley; her parents, Eva and G. V. Powell; brother, Calvin Powell; sister, Doris Brown; and a son, Phillip Kelley.

             Survivors include her daughter, Judith Forehand (Roger), Enterprise, AL; a special sister-in-law, Jean Powell, Helena, AL; brothers, Stanley Powell, Helena, AL, Mason Powell, South Carolina; daughter-in-law, Ann Kelley, Birmingham AL; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and her loving 4-legged companion, Jack.
