A Dothan woman has been arrested for suggesting she could shoot students at Jerry Lee Faine Elementary School.
Lt. Will Benny said warrants are being obtained charging Glendell Hasan with Making Terrorist Threats. He said Hasan never made a specific threat and students were never in danger.
Under Alabama law, a person is guilty of making such threats when he or she threatens, by any means, to commit any crime of violence or to damage any property by doing any of the following:
Intentionally or recklessly:
a. Terrorizing another person.
b. Causing the disruption of school activities.
c. Causing the evacuation of a building, place of assembly, or facility of public transportation, or other serious public inconvenience.
Hasan is believed to have entered the school where she became involved in a confrontation with a staff member. Hasan apparently said she could go to the school and shoot, presumably a reference to the deadly Connecticut shootings. Hasan never specifically threatened to shoot anyone. She was arrested a short time later and taken to police headquarters for interrogation.
Faine Elementary was locked down shortly after 8:00 am Tuesday. The lock down was lifted at 9:30.
