State Rep. Paul Lee urged Troy University graduates to have grateful attitudes and remember
all those people who helped them along the way.
Lee
delivered the keynote address to graduates during the fall commencement
ceremony for the Dothan Campus on Sunday at the Dothan
Civic Center. More than 240 students received degrees during the event.
Lee reminded graduates that each one of them has "giants" in their lives that have helped them achieve their goals."When
you walk across the stage in a little while, I want you to imagine all
the people on whose shoulders you are presently standing,"
Lee said. "Recall their faces, their words, and their faith in you."
Lee
challenged the graduates to show their appreciation by having an
"attitude of gratitude" and choosing to help others with intentional acts of kindness."Each one of you can be a giant to someone else," he said.
"With
these qualities, each of you will bring great added value to your
future, whatever company or employer you choose to work for," Lee
said.
Rep.
Lee, a fourth-generation Dothan native and lifelong resident of the
city, was elected to the Alabama House of Representatives, District
86 seat in 2010. He currently serves on the Health, Agriculture and
Local Government committees. He has sponsored and passed several bills
including an Aviation Bill, which gives tax breaks for aviation
companies to locate in Alabama, and the Jason Barfield
Bill, which provides certain tax exemptions for the families of soldiers
killed in action while overseas.
