Marvin D. Wise

Mr. Marvin D. Wise of Samson passed away at his residence on December 10, 2012 surrounded by his loving family.  He was 99.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 2012 at the Piney Grove Assembly of God Church with Rev. Calvin Sherrouse and Rev. Tom Harold officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.

 Mr. Wise was born in Coffee County on November 5, 1913 to the late Theodore and Nancy Farris Wise.  Mr. Wise was a charter member of the Piney Grove Assembly of God Church where he was a faithful member for sixty-five years.  He was a lifelong farmer who lived in the Piney Grove Community all of his life.  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Glenna J. Wise; two grandsons, Jeff Wise and Wade Wise; great granddaughter, Shanna Baker; and all five of his siblings.

 He is survived by three daughters, Syble Lolley (Gerald), June Lolley (Donald), all of Enterprise, and Shirley Wilks (Hoarce) of Kinston; son, Dale Wise (Sharon) of Enterprise; eight grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
