Concerned parents and community members are crying out and continue to ask the same question, but say they are getting no answers.

"We haven't been able to get any answers as to why the only thing on the agenda is to dissolve the magnet schools; why there isn't a proposal to fix Honeysuckle and Girard," explained founder of Save Our Schools, Rhonda Pasibe.

The group said they are looking for an answer other than dissolving magnet schools, which Superintendent Wilder discussed earlier this school year.

"If the magnet schools are doing good work what's the purpose of messing with them? Go to the schools that aren't coming up to standards these are the schools that we need to fix," suggested Edward Vaughn, a concerned community member.

Members of Save Our Schools said they've reached out for answers and even offered to donate their time and resources to help improve the non-magnet schools.

"Our elected board members cannot remain silent on this issue. We want to know their opinion on the matter and we want to know why," asked Sam Crawford, with Save Our Schools.

Superintendent Wilder said there is no official proposal on the table yet and they are in the beginning stages of forming a committee that will over look a possible plan for the future of magnet schools.

However a committee member said they have seen a proposal and it's one the majority of the members don't agree with.

Save Our Schools said they fear eliminating magnet schools will also eliminate diversity in schools and move Dothan City Schools backwards.

"There is no evidence to support that this would be a good thing for our community," explained Pisabe.

However, if there's one thing the group and the school board agree on its to find the best scenario for the kids.
