Harriet M. Johnson

Harriet M. Johnson, 87, a long time resident of Dothan, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2012, after a short illness.

Graveside memorial services will be held at 1 P.M. Thursday, December 6, 2012, at Memory Hill Cemetery in Dothan, Alabama, with Reverend John Smith officiating and Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.

Harriet was born 20, February 1925, in Grinnell, Iowa, to Andrew Sands Dunn, Jr. and Florence (Burroughs) Dunn. Within a year her family moved to California, where Harriet ultimately met and married her husband, Escoll Johnson on 15, January 1943 in Glendale, California. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Dothan, where Escoll became the owner of Johnson Machine Shop. Harriet worked as a draftsman in the Electrical Department of the City of Dothan, and she retired in 1987 after 28 years of service.

Harriet was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 30 years, Escoll Johnson.

She is survived by her sons, Ken and wife, Penny (Hicks) Johnson, and Doug and wife, Linda (Ray) Johnson, all of Dothan; three grandchildren, Janis (Johnson) Yeager of Tallahassee, Florida, Wes Johnson of Hart, Michigan, and Connie (Johnson) Bell and husband Tom Bell of Blakely, Georgia; and seven great-grandchildren, Jessica Davis, Thomas Yeager, Ashley Yeager, Robb Yeager, all of Tallahassee, Florida, Jessica Johnson of Aptos, California, Danielle Johnson of Norfolk, Virginia, and Joey Johnson of Hollywood, California.

She is also survived by her sister Frances (Dunn) DaFano and husband Marco DaFano of Sedona, Arizona, and a niece, Robin DaFano and daughter, Catalina of Brooklyn, New York.

Also surviving are her brother-in-law Robert and wife Sara Harris of Panama City, Florida; and nieces and nephews, Linda Jo Gholson of Panama City, Florida, Nancy Jegart of Havana, Florida, Carole Thieme of Solomons, Maryland, Beth Deeney of Glendale, Arizona, Clay Johnson of Daleville, Alabama, Andy Johnson of Port St. Joe, Florida, Roberta Woodward of Fort Pierce, Florida, Al Harris of Panama City Beach, Florida, and Bobby Harris of Griffin, Georgia.
