Gladys C. Hughes Mills

Ms. Gladys C. Hughes Mills, age 88, a resident of Dothan, died Friday, November 30, 2012 at Wesley Manor Methodist Home following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Shady Grove Congregational Holiness Church with Rev. Judy Dyson and Rev. Brenda Yon officiating. Burial will follow in the Shady Grove Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery, Pansey, AL with Kendall Glover of Glover Funeral Home directing.
The family will be receiving friends at Glover Funeral Home on Monday, December 3, 2012 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Ms. Mills will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the family to cover expenses.
Ms. Mills was born on December 12, 1923 in Houston County the daughter of the late Jack Edward Hughes and Claudie Gertrude Brown Hughes. She was a lifelong resident of Houston County.
Ms. Mills was a dedicated member of Shady Grove Congregational Holiness church for over 35 years. She was a foster grandparent in Ashford Elementary School for five years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Nettie Gulledge and one brother, J. L. Hughes.
She is survived by two daughters, Janice Welch, Ashford and Jeanette Barfield (Bobby), Tifton, GA; two sons, James Floyd Mills (Sue), Headland and Joseph Mills (Brenda) of Dothan; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ms. Mills grandsons and great grandsons; Stanley Keith Welch, Tony Wade Welch, Jeremy Lee Mills, J. D. Welch, Joseph Scott Mills and Michael Campbell.
The family would like to thank the staff at Wesley Manor and Covenant Hospice for their special care and love.
