The University of Alabama has a chance to win its third national championship in four years.  All the Tide need do is defeat Notre Dame January 8 in Miami.  The match-up became official Sunday when the final regular season BCS standings were released.

Alabama earned the right to play for the crown with a thrilling 32-28 win over Georgia in the SEC Championship Game played Saturday.  The Tide finished the season with a 12-1 record while the Irish were perfect at 12-0. Alabama opened as an early 8 point favorite.

The Tide defeated LSU last January to win the national crown, two years after it knocked off Texas for the title.

Florida, with only a single regular season loss, will play Louisville in the Sugar Bowl, Kansas State and Oregon meet in the Fiesta Bowl, Stanford will play Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl, and Florida State will meet Northern Illinois in the Orange Bowl.

LSU will meet Clemson in the Chick-fil-A Bowl , Georgia faces Nebraska in the Capital One Bowl, Oklahoma takes on Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl, Michigan plays South Carolina in the Outback Bowl, and Northwestern will match-up against Mississippi State in the Gator Bowl.
