James Allen (Hank) Thompson, Sr.

James Allen (Hank) Thompson, Sr., a resident of Columbia, died Friday morning, November 30, 2012, in the UAB Hospital in Birmingham. He was 52.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 2, 2012, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Tom Chestnut and Reverend Doug Shumate officiating. Burial will follow in the Sylvan Grove Methodist Cemetery, near Midland City. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. Saturday at the mortuary in Headland.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
Hank Thompson, son of the late Allen Francis Thompson and Nadine Green Thompson, was a lifelong resident of Henry County, near Columbia. He was a 1978 graduate of Headland High School. Hank was a member of the Balkum Baptist Church. He was retired, due to disability, as a heavy equipment operator. Hank was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Leann Thompson.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Lisa G. Thompson, Columbia; a daughter, Hanna Thompson, Savannah, GA; two sons, James A. (A.J.) Thompson, Jr., Dothan; and Michael Chase Etress, Columbia; a brother, William F. (Rusty) Thompson and wife, Melanie, Dublin, GA; a grandson, Jamie Allen Thompson; two nephews, Nicholas Thompson and James C. Jackson.
