Wicksburg fifth through twelfth graders have built a robotics company from the ground up; from brainstorming to taking it to the next level.

"We did decide on WASA. I completely forget whose great idea that was but it was a true gift to us," said Veronica King Wicksburg Robotics VP of marketing

"WASA stands for the Wicksburg Association of Scientific Automation that's our play off of NASA," explained Brian Probert, Wicksburg Robotics CEO.

While they may not be on NASA's level just yet; they are making quite a name of their own.

Beating the odds they were recently chosen as the *best* robotics company in the Wiregrass

"It felt really good just to win over tech schools and high schools," said Probert with a smile.

"We've beat out all these tech schools and private schools and we are just a little bitty hometown school down here," exclaimed Jada Starling, Wicksburg Robotics PR.

A small school with big dreams and they are reaching for the stars.

They've built a space elevator robot and marketed their robotic company as one of the most successful in the South, but they've also gained life skills that will help them continue on their path to success.

"It's opened my eyes to say hey if we can do this then there is no telling what else we are capable of," said Starling.

WASA will compete Saturday and Sunday at Auburn University and there are already over 150 locals headed to show their support.

They would like to invite everyone from the community to attend this free event and help them receive points for a spirited crowd.
