Trojans Open Sun Belt Play at UALR

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Sun Belt Conference play begins for the Troy men's basketball team (4-3) on Thursday, as it travels to Arkansas to face UALR (4-3) at 7:30 p.m.

Troy fell to UAB on Tuesday night, 75-55, at Trojan Arena, snapping a three-game winning streak.  Hunter Williams led the team with 16 points on the day, while Emil Jones scored eight points, grabbed a team-high five rebounds and dished out four assists.  Antoine Myers scored 13 points, his fourth consecutive game in double-figures, and also led the team with three steals.  Troy struggled shooting the ball and committed a season-high 14 turnovers.

Williams leads the team in scoring, at 11.6 points per game.  Jones and Myers are right behind, at 9.7 and 9.6 points per game, respectively.  The Trojans are shooting 38 percent from the field this season and 33 percent from beyond the arc.

UALR enters the game following a 74-62 loss against South Carolina in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, in the Hoops for Hope final.  The Trojans defeated SMU, 69-56, the previous day to advance to the final.

Will Neighbor currently leads the squad with 12.7 points per game, while John Gillon is second at 12.3 points per game.  The Trojans are shooting 41 percent from the field on the season and 36 percent from range.

Troy is 4-5 all-time against UALR, but has lost two straight.  Last season, Troy was defeated by UALR, 74-62, in overtime at Sartain Hall.  Justin Wright scored 10 points and added five rebounds, while Ray Chambers scored eight points and grabbed five rebounds.
