Jimmy Sparks Acree, 87, of Dothan passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at a local hospital.
Graveside services will be 2 pm Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Dothan City Cemetery with Rev. Robert Strickland officiating and Robert Byrd directing. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Landmark Park, P.O. Box 6362, Dothan, AL, 36302.
Mr. Acree was born September 1, 1925 in Dothan and was a graduate of Dothan High School. He attended Alabama Polytechnic School (Auburn) where he played football. He has resided most of his life in Dothan and was a radio announced for WAGF. He was employed with the State of Alabama for over 20 years until his retirement in 1989. Mr. Acree was preceded in death by his parents James and Thelma Acree, a daughter Bonnie Willis, and a sister Caroline Scheibe.
Survivors include his son Roger Acree of Dothan; a son-in-law Neil Willis of Dothan grandchildren, Hilary Willis and Brandon Acree; a niece Cathy (Frank) Gaines of Dothan.
