TROY, Ala. - Troy (4-3) was defeated by UAB (4-3) on Tuesday night, 75-55, at the Trojan Arena.  Hunter Williams led the squad with 16 points.

"Give credit to UAB, they came out ready to play tonight," head coach Don Maestri said after Troy's first loss at Trojan Arena.  "If we could have hit a few shots in the second half we could have cut the lead down to single digits. Tonight, UAB hit us in the mouth, but I was proud of the way our guys competed."

A season-high 14 turnovers plagued the Trojans, and the big halftime deficit proved insurmountable.  Troy struggled shooting from the field all game, shooting just 33.3 percent (19-of-57) from the field and 26.1 percent (6-of-23) from beyond the arc.  Williams shot just 5-of-14 from the field, but hit three of his six 3-point attempts.

Troy attempted a comeback in the second half, but could not cut it to single digits.  Antoine Myers scored 13 points, grabbed two rebounds and had three steals.  Emil Jones grabbed five boards and dished out four assists to go along with his eight points.

The Blazers were on fire for much of the game, before cooling off in the closing minutes.  UAB finished 26-of-59 (44.1 %) from the field and 9-of-25 (36.0 %) from range.  The Blazers out-rebounded the Trojans 45-29 on the night.

Troy struggled from the field early on, but used a 16-5 run to take a 20-18 lead with 8:29 to play in the half.  The Blazers went on a run from there, outscoring the Trojans 17-0 to close the opening frame.

Sun Belt Conference play begins on Thursday night, as the Trojans travel to Little Rock, Ark., to take on UALR as part of a double-header with the Troy women's basketball team.  Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
