TROY, Ala. - Head coach Chanda Rigby and the Troy women's basketball program announced the signing of three future Trojans on Tuesday as part of NCAA early signing period has come to a close.

The Trojans will add one junior college transfer, Revonnia Howard, and two true freshmen, Kristen Emerson and Chant Lewis.  The three signees will suit up for the Trojans beginning in the 2013-14 season.

Kristen Emerson, a 6-foot-2 forward, comes to Troy from Prattville Christian in Prattville, Ala.  She is in the beginning stages of her first season with Prattville Christian after spending the last two years at Marbury High School.

While at Marbury, Emerson was named second-team all-state and was the key player as Marbury made its first regional appearance since 1999.  Emerson averaged 22 points and 11 rebounds for the Bulldogs.

"Kristen is a big addition for us," Rigby said.  "She fits our system perfectly and will create match up problems for other teams post players."

Revonnia Howard, a 6-foot-2 forward, comes to Troy from Rock Valley College in Rockford, Ill.  Howard, a Chicago native, was named the NJCAA Tournament MVP last season as she led the Golden Eagles to a national championship.

Howard averaged 12.3 points, 11.3 rebounds per game and led RVC in blocks, steals and field goal percentage.  She pulled down a NJCAA tournament record 28 rebounds in the Golden Eagles' quarterfinal win over Montgomery College- Rockville

"Revonnia is a tremendous addition to our roster, and is exactly what we need to propel us towards our lofty goals," Rigby said.  "She is a very mobile post player who will be able to run the floor in our offense, defend in our full court setting, and claim rebounds for the Trojan cause."

Chant Lewis, a guard, comes to Troy from Winnfield High School in Winnfield, La.  Lewis was an honorable mention all-state selection in 2011-12 as she led the Tigers to the second round of the LHSAA 2A playoffs.

In 2010-11, Lewis was a first team all-state selection as Winnfield won the LHSAA 2A State Championship.  Lewis scored 15 points in the title game.

She has led Winnfield to three undefeated district championships and has been named first team all-district in each of her first three seasons.

"Chant is the perfect guard for our system," Rigby said.  "She loves to press and is great at pushing the ball up the court and scoring."

The current edition of the Trojans returns to the floor on Thursday as they travel to UALR to open Sun Belt play at 5:15 p.m.
