Trial Date Set For Man First Accused Of Kidnapping Stepdaughter

The trial of a man initially accused of kidnapping his fifteen year old step-daughter from a doctor's office in Dothan has been set for early next year.  A judge has set a March 18 date for the proceedings involving Charles Dean Partin, ordering the trial held at the Federal courthouse in Dothan.

Partin was charged with abducting the girl, who was in the care of state welfare workers, before leading officers on a manhunt that stretched from Alabama to Texas then to Ohio where he was captured.  However, a federal kidnapping charge was later dropped and, instead, Partin was indicted on charges of transporting a stolen car across state lines.  He was also indicted on a single count of Coercion or Enticement of a Minor Female.

In setting the court date, U.S. Judge Myron Thompson warned the government and defense not to wait until the last minute to enter a guilty plea if Partin decides to admit to the allegations.

Partin's common law wife, Julie Bethke, is charged with Interfering with Child Custody and is being held in the Houston County Jail.
