Ludie Volf Spivey

Ludie Volf Spivey, a resident of Abbeville, formerly of Edwin, died early Friday morning, November 23, 2012, in Noland Hospital. She was 89.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 25, 2012, in the Edwin United Methodist Church with Reverend Kenneth Preston officiating. Burial will follow in the Edwin Cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Sunday in the church sanctuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Edwin United Methodist Church, c/o Polly Covington, 105 McSwean Drive, Abbeville, AL 36310.
Mrs. Spivey was born and reared in Henry County, near Abbeville, daughter of the late Milan E. Volf and Willie Sowell Volf. She lived in the Edwin community most of her lifetime where she was a member of the Edwin United Methodist Church. Mrs. Spivey was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Spivey, two grandsons, Randall Kevin Spivey and Ritchie Lamar Spivey and a great-grandson, Randall Blake Spivey; two sisters, Mary Ross and Margaret Price, and two brothers, Frankie Volf and Jessie Volf.
Surviving relatives include her son, James Lamar Spivey and his wife, Celeste, Edwin; a brother, Joel Volf (Thelma), Capps, AL; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Volf, Edwin; and a brother-in-law, Rufus Price, Edwin; three grandchildren, Reggie Spivey (Sherri), Ronald Spivey (Kari), and Russell Spivey (Hadas); five great-grandchildren, Shelby Spivey, K.C. Silvia (Jesse), Kaitlyn Spivey, James Spivey, and Reid Spivey; several nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.
