"My Dad does most of the cooking, but my Mom does pitch in sometimes," said Avery Groover.

However, according to Avery it sounds like her Mom sticks to the basics--

"The only things she cooks are the frozen, the microwave and the oven," Avery said laughing.

She's not the only who says that; her brother Colin agrees, but he says his Mom is good at plenty of things.

"No offense to my Mom; I'm sorry about saying that, but my Dad really does the best cooking that I've had," said Colin.

Thanksgiving is no exception in the Groover home; Chef Dad prepares the entire meal.

Although the help may not come from Mom; he doesn't do it alone.
"I like to help my Dad in the kitchen; I put up all the ingredients and put it in the oven," said Avery.

The chef wouldn't trade his kitchen staff for the world.
"I enjoy them coming in and wanting to do something with me because in today's age kids don't always want to be around you, so if they want to come in and help cook," said Groover with a smile.

Cooking is something that Clint Groover says was a way of life when he was growing up.

For over twenty years his family ran a restaurant here in Dothan.

Although, it was his Mom who he watched do most of the cooking; it's a tradition he's thankful to pass down.
"That's the memory that I have in my house and that's the memory that you want your kids to have with you. Memories are not made on the Wii; they are made in the kitchen and other spots in the house where you can talk and enjoy and interact," said Groover.

Traditionally for many families those memories include mom in the kitchen, but the Groovers say "What's a tradition unless it's special to your family?"

She has her strengths and I have mine; one of them is cooking and I enjoy it," explained Clint about his wife Kandy.

After 15 years of marriage it's what works for the Groovers and they say regardless of who is doing the cooking this Thanksgiving they are thankful for plenty of food and memories to share.
