Retail chains are gearing up for Black Friday, but local businesses are hoping to get their piece of the Christmas shopping pie this Saturday.

'Small Business Saturday' is aimed at helping the local economy by encouraging shoppers to buy from family-owned businesses.

According to the National Federation of Independent Business, the holiday shopping season is crucial to small businesses, as they're still recovering from a sluggish economy.
