James Phillip (Phil) Whitehead

James Phillip (Phil) Whitehead, a resident of County Road 57, South, Abbeville, died Monday morning, November 19, 2012, at his home. He was 49.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 21, 2012, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Don Adams officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
Phil Whitehead was a native of Columbia but was reared in Henry County, near Abbeville, where he lived all his life. He was formerly employed as a carpenter in residential construction with his father and had also worked as a logger. Phil was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his mother, Hilda Causey Whitehead and a brother, Robert Whitehead.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Shannon Marie Whitehead, Abbeville; a son, Walker Whitehead and fiance', Delta Joiner, Calera, AL; his father, Jimmy Whitehead, Abbeville; a brother, Jamie Earl Whitehead, Abbeville; three grandchildren, Dallas Joiner, Shannon Joiner and Shane Joiner; aunts, Serena Coleman and Lillian Millet and an uncle, John Whitehead.
