Wylline Christmas Williams

Mrs. Wylline Christmas Williams, age 90, a resident of Dothan died Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Christmas, Rev. Bill Bastien and Mr. Joe Falkner officiating.  Burial will follow in  Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Kendall Glover of Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will be receiving friends at Glover Funeral Home on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.

 Flowers will be accepted or contributions to Alzheimer's Resource Center, Kay Jones,  P. O. Box 1170, Dothan, AL  36302.

Mrs. Williams was born on July 13, 1922 in Cottonwood the daughter of the late Joseph Emmett and Antie Hughes Christmas.  She was retired from the banking industry where she worked in marketing.  Mrs. Williams was a member of Heritage Church.

Mrs. Williams career in Dothan began with the First National Bank where she was the Director of Women's Marketing. She was the hostess of the Wylline Williams Talk Show on WDHN TV which covered the tri-state area and addressed local topics of interest. She also dealt in real estate by purchasing and developing properties.  She worked for Welcome Wagon International early in her life.

Due to her civic involvement, Mrs. Williams was honored in many ways.  She was Alabama Woman of Achievement for the Business and Professional Women, 1974.  She was named Alabama Volunteer of the year State Service Award for the Alabama Division of the American Cancer Society, 1973.  She was also Abbeville Citizen of the Year for Kiwanis, 1993.

Mrs. Williams was involved in the following organizations: Dothan BPW, Chamber of Commerce, Houston County American Cancer Society (Charter Member and President), Mother's Club, Dogwood Garden Club, PTA, Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother, Director for the College and Career Department at First Baptist Church of Dothan.

After attending Berry College, she remained committed to the principles they taught and was an enthusiastic Alumni Association member.

She was an accomplished watercolor artist who was awarded various ribbons from juried art shows.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, William J. Christmas and Robert Earl Christmas; sisters, Martha Lunsford and Nell Lathrop.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Ernest S. Williams; daughter, Cynthia Falkner (Joe), Dallas, TX; son, Ted Williams (Jamie), Sanford, FL; brothers, Charles M. Christmas, Jemison; Joseph E. Christmas, Jr. (Miriam), Cottonwood and Edna Christmas, Auburn. 

Grandchildren Megan Johnson (Stephen), New York City, NY; Lauren Williams (Jerry) Dallas, TX; Scott Falkner, Dallas, TX; Adrina Williams, TN and numerous nieces, nephews and great grandchildren. 

Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Heritage Baptist Sunday School Class, Count Your Blessings.

The family wishes to acknowledge the loving care given by the staff of 2 East at SAMC and Dr. James Robeson.
