Miss Edna Joyce Mims of Mims Road, Westville, Florida went home to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, November 09, 2012, after a very courageous battle with cancer.  She was 64.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 12, at Poplar Head United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Mashburn and Rev. Chuck Grantham officiating. Edna will be placed into the church one hour prior to service time.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, November 11, from 6 until 8 p.m.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Poplar Head United Methodist Church, 904 N. Wilson St., Geneva, AL 36340.

Edna was born July 8, 1948, in Holmes County, Florida to the late Loyd and Mable Ingalls Mims. She was a 1967 graduate of Bethlehem High School and later graduated from Enterprise Junior College.  She never asked for anything, but gave so much.  She was an inspiration to everyone who knew her; the epitome of a Christian's walk with God was shown through Edna. During her battle with cancer when asked how she was doing, she would always say, "I'm fine".  Her faith in God never wavered for she knew He was with her all the way. She was very devoted to her family, especially her son and grandchildren.  For several years Edna was a very active and devoted member of Poplar Head United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, two brothers, Ed Mims (Lucille) and Earl Mims (Louise), as well as three brothers-in-law, Charles Grantham, Wayne McDuffie and Jerry Prescott, all preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son, Brad Mims (Amy); four grandchildren: Dalton and Ella Mims, Colby and Cody Hatcher, all of Slocomb; five sisters: Geraldine Gillman (Ralph), Christine Prescott, Elizabeth McDuffie, Darlene Hudson, all of Westville, and Mary Grantham, Bishopville, SC; one brother, Earvin Mims, Westville; several nieces, nephews, three special friends: Mary Jo Craft, Babara Williams and Rachel Townsend; other extended family and a host of friends.
