Roy Gene Holley

Roy Gene Holley, 81, of Dothan passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012 at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be 3 pm Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. David Bearden and Rev. Louie Fincher officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 1-3 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 1101 Northchase Pkwy, Marietta, GA, 30067.

Mr. Holley was born January 18, 1931 in Goodwater, AL and lived the early part of his life there. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Army. He was later employed with Beaunit Industries in Childersburg, AL as a supervisor for 22 years. He moved to Dothan in 1972 and was employed with Akwell Industries and later employed with Sony for 15 years until his retirement in 1993. Following his retirement he worked with Nypro for 3 years. Mr. Holley enjoyed woodworking, gardening and working in his yard. He was a member of the Church of God in Childersburg.

Survivors include his wife Mary Holley of Dothan; sons, Steve (Barbara) Holley of Webb, Daryl (Pat) Holley of Webb, and Creig (Lauren) Holley of Birmingham; 4 grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a special little canine friend "Lucky" also survives.
