Nan Whatley Jones

Nan Whatley Jones, a resident of Kinsey, died early Friday morning, November 9, 2012, in a Dothan hospital. She was 63.

            Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 11, 2012, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Pastor James A. Rich officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 until 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.

            Ms. Jones was a native of Dothan and was reared in Miami, Florida. She lived in Kinsey most of her adult lifetime. Ms. Jones was retired from the Dothan City School System in the lunchroom at Girard Elementary School and was also formerly employed at Northview High School. She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix Brown Whatley and Mildred Gussie Elmore Whatley, a son, Spencer Felix Butt, and a niece, Lindsay Brooke Whatley.

            Surviving relatives include a grandson, Nicholas Spencer Butt, Newville; two brothers, Felix Page Whatley and wife, Beverly, Rehobeth, AL, and Jeff Davis Whatley, Kinsey; a special friend, Debra Kidd; aunts and uncles, Kitty Bowden, Robert and Ruth Elmore, Billy Wayne and Martha Ruth Whatley, Frank Sconyers, and Christine Whatley; four nieces and a nephew.
