Troy's Kyle Lucas Named to Capital One Academic All-District Team

TROY, Ala. - Troy University defensive lineman Kyle Lucas has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Football Team, the College Sports Information Director of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday.

Lucas, a senior from Holtville, Ala., has a 3.63 grade-point-average in criminal justice. Lucas has started all nine games for the Trojans this season and has 15 tackles and 2.0 tackles for loss. A former walk-on, Lucas has 11 career starts for the Trojans and has played in 23 career games.

The 2012 Capital One Academic All-District Football team, selected by CoSIDA, has been released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Lucas will now appear on the Capital One Academic All-America ballot later this month.

Troy hosts Navy on Saturday in Veterans Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:34 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live by ESPN3.
