Jacob Benton Was Charged with First Degree Theft of Property

On November 1, 2012 the Dothan Police Department responded to Southeast Alabama Medical Center regarding a large amount of prescription narcotics taken from the pharmacy at the hospital. Upon arrival, police learned an internal investigation had revealed a pharmacy technician, Jacob Benton, had committed multiple thefts in order to obtain Methadone, Hydrocodone and Oxycontin by manipulating a narcotics dispensing machine. Investigators say the theft was committed between January 2012 and November 2012. Narcotic Investigators arrested Jacob Benton, and have been awaiting a final pill count from the DEA which has now arrived and revealed 17,135 pills, valued at about 15,000 dollars have been seized in this case.

Jacob Benton, black male, 25 years of age, of Newville, Alabama was arrested and charged with First Degree Theft of Property with a $30,000 bond. All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
