Billy Ray Dearmon

Billy Ray Dearmon, 61, of Dothan passed away Saturday, November 2, 2012 at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 4 pm Sunday, November 4, 2012, at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hays McKay officiating. Burial will be in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3-4 pm on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the World Gospel Mission, Africa Gospel Church Baby Centre, P.O. Box 948, Marion, Indiana, 46952.

Mr. Dearmon was born July 19, 1951, in Waynesboro, MS, and lived in Mobile the early years of his life. He was a 1969 graduate of Vigor High School. Bill and his wife Melody were missionaries in Kenya from 2002 until 2007 where they built The Africa Gospel Church Baby Centre. Mr. Dearmon returned to the United States five years ago and was employed with Consolidated Electrical Contractors and Engineers of Dothan, AL. He was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Melody Dearmon; his children, Shane (Brandi) Dearmon, Brad (Olivia) Dearmon, Rebekah Dearmon, April (Jason) Gordon, and David (Courtney) Reece; seven grandchildren; his mother, Lois Dearmon; his mother-in-law, Laurene Williamson; his siblings, Scott (Debbie) Dearmon, and Carol (Bill) McClelland; and a host of family and friends.
