This week the Dothan School Board put plans for a new athletic center on hold and now parents like Kevin Henson are wondering when the building will get an upgrade.
Hinson and other parents were on hand for the player's pregame lunch Thursday. Hinson expressed his concerns about the situation.
He said, ""We hope they recognize this is for the kids. If we want to be a very solid 6A athletic program we're going to need these facilities."
In Monday's school board meeting architects revealed the plans to the board members, but instead of voting on the $1.7 million project, the vote was tabled.
Hinson said the board's decision caught parents off guard."All of a sudden we get a halt on this and it caught a lot of people by surprise," continued Hinson.
Football player Grayson Medford said he's surprised a school like Northview is using outdated equipment.
"It's kind of shocking to be a 6A school and have the equipment we do, but we work with what we have," said Medford.
The new 12,000-square-foot center will have a weight room, locker rooms, health classrooms, and additional office space for the school's coaches.
