An Ashford man has been arrested on murder charges involving the death of a homeless man in Gainesville, Florida.   Clifton Rae Baxter, 33, was taken into custody Saturday in the Lovetown community located about 15 southeast of Dothan.

Police in Gainesville say the murder happened Friday morning at a Bank of America.  A report from Gainesville.com claims a man was seen rummaging through the pockets of the victim whose body was found lying on a sidewalk. The cause of death has not been released nor has the identity of the person killed.

Students at the University of Florida were notified of the attack by text message.

Police from  Gainesville are believed to have traveled to Dothan over the weekend to aid in the execution of search warrants which led to Baxter's arrest.  Baxter remains jailed under no bond pending extradition to Florida.
