TROY, Ala. - Troy fans will have a chance to get to meet their basketball teams and win great prizes at Trojan Arena next Thursday, November 1, as Troy hosts the inaugural Meet the Trojans Basketball Night.

Doors at the newly constructed Trojan Arena will open at 5:45 p.m. with students, faculty, area schools and the general public all invited to the free event.  Both the Troy men's and women's basketball teams will be introduced and available for autographs.

Fans looking to purchase season tickets will be able to get a first-hand look at their view of the court, as the top 100 available seats will be highlighted.

In addition, fans will have the opportunity to win great prizes, including $10,000 cash, two single-game courtside seats and a book scholarship from Barnes and Noble.

One lucky fan will take a half-court shot with $10,000 on the line thanks to Trustway Insurance.  The book scholarship will be given away in a student three-point shootout while the courtside seats will also be given away in a three-point shootout.

In addition to the contests, head coaches Don Maestri and Chanda Rigby will address the crowd.

"It's a great opportunity for the people in town and especially the Troy students to see the new arena," Maestri said of the event.  "The students will be a big factor in helping the basketball team and creating a great atmosphere at Trojan Arena, and that starts with this event."

"It's the beginning of the new era of women's basketball at Troy," women's basketball head coach Chanda Rigby said.  "It's going to be an exciting event and we're looking forward to kicking the season of right."

Free popcorn will be served and select concession stands will be open with a full menu available.

The men's basketball season opens at home against Mississippi State on Friday, November 9, while the women's basketball home opener is set for Wednesday, November 14, against Mercer.
